Broncos Injury Report: A bit of a nightmare heading into Week 9

Oct 31, 2019, 4:13 PM | Updated: 4:14 pm

A week after being relatively healthy heading into a game with the Colts, injuries have piled up for the Broncos with the Browns coming to town on Sunday. All of a sudden, Denver has a laundry list of players with aches and pains, ranging from minor to serious.

This is what tends to happen in the second half of the season. As Denver makes the turn into Week 9, the gauntlet of games is starting to take a toll.

Here’s who was listed on the Broncos official injury report as of Thursday, October 31:

***

FULL PARTICIPATION

Justin Hollins (LB)
Injury – Knee
Note – Since injuring the knee three weeks ago against the Chargers, it’s been a lingering and nagging ailment for the rookie linebacker, but he appears good to go for Sunday

Ron Leary (RG)
Injury – NIR
Note – The Broncos gave their right guard another “vet day” early in the week to help him get ready for Sunday, but he looks to be a full go for the Browns

Phillip Lindsay (RB)
Injury – Wrist
Note – The Broncos leading rusher popped up on the injury report this week with another wrist ailment, but he was back at practice on Thursday

***

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

Todd Davis (LB)
Injury – Knee / Hip
Note – Two injuries are slowing down the Broncos starting middle linebacker this week, as he tries to recover in time to take on Nick Chubb and Cleveland’s running game

Joseph Jones (LB)
Injury – Ribs
Note – The backup linebacker and special teams player just returned from an injury suffered in the preseason, but now he’s dealing with a new ailment that could keep him out against the Browns

Von Miller (LB)
Injury – Knee
Note – Vic Fangio insists there’s nothing to worry about, but Miller didn’t practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday, which is cause for concern

Dalton Risner (LG)
Injury – Ankle
Note – The rookie limped off the field against the Colts, only to get his ankle re-taped and come back into the game; but the injury is lingering, as Risner has been limited in practice all week

DeMarcus Walker (DE)
Injury – Shoulder
Note – One of the few bright spots for the Broncos this season, Walker’s emergence as a contributor on defense could be slowed by a shoulder injury

***

DID NOT PRACTICE

Bryce Callahan (CB)
Injury – Foot
Note – The cornerback will be sidelined a few more weeks due to a foot injury that dates back to last season and was re-aggravated during training camp

Joe Flacco (QB)
Injury – Neck
Note – It was revealed today that the quarterback’s neck injury could sideline him for four to six weeks, making a stint on injured reserve a distinct possibility

Jeff Heuerman (TE)
Injury – Knee
Note – The oft-injured tight end limped off the field in Indianapolis, hurting a knee that could very well keep him out on Sunday, as well

Ja’Wuan James (RT)
Injury – Knee
Note – After returning from a knee injury suffered in the season opener, James went down again in the second quarter against the Colts; the Broncos figure to be careful with him the second time around

Corey Nelson (LB)
Injury – Biceps
Note – There’s a good chance that Nelson’s season is over, as he tries to recover from a torn biceps that was first reported on Monday

Will Parks (S)
Injury – Hand
Note – After battling a wrist injury, the safety injured his hand against the Chiefs and will be sidelined a few weeks following surgery
