Watch: C.J. Cron hammers baseball for longest homer ever at Coors Field

C.J. Cron is having an unbelievable year, earning his first All-Star appearance at age 32 just a few years after no team in MLB would give him a big league contract.

Now the Rockies first baseman is adding to his resume. Cron now owns the longest home run in Coors Field history, tied with Giancarlo Stanton at 504 feet. Cron’s shot came in the fourth inning off of Keynan Middleton at 110 mph off the bat.

It looked like the ball may have gone over or hit the truck in left field. It may have cleared the ballpark on the fly, which is extremely rare. Cron’s is the longest home run in Rockies history.

Technically Shohei Ohtani hit a longer home run than all of these but it came in the 2o21 Home Run Derby.

The fun didn’t last for long as the Rockies blew their lead in the top half of the fifth. The D-Backs came back scoring nine runs before recording an out, taking a 10-9 lead.

Earlier this week, Christian Yelich hit what was the second-longest home run at Coors Field ever, now No. 3 at 499 feet.

Jesús Sánchez hit the ballpark’s fourth-longest home run ever at Coors Field ever earlier this season at 496 feet, No. 5 is  495 foot Ryan McMahon blast also hit this season.

The longest home run in Coors Field history was a 505-foot blast hit by Nomar Mazara. There was a longer home run recorded in Denver, Joey Meyer hit a 582-foot shot back in the city’s minor league days.
