A list of sporting events impacted by the Coronavirus outbreak

On Wednesday, two major pieces of sports-related news were announced, both related to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak. In an attempt to slow the spread of the disease, the NCAA is going to play both the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in front of empty arenas. Meanwhile, the NBA is suspending their season until further notice, starting with games scheduled for March 12.

But those weren’t the only changes announced. The Coronavirus is impacting sports on every level, from high schools to the pros. And it’s affecting schedules in Colorado.

In order to help keep everyone up to date, 104TheFan.com will be providing a running list of events/games impacted by the outbreak.

NCAA – The NCAA has canceled all remaining winter and spring championships.

CHSAA – All remaining state basketball tournaments have been canceled, CHSAA announced early Friday morning.

The prep sports governing body also announced on Thursday that spring sports and activities will be suspended until early April.

This weekend’s boys and girls basketball tournament games will be limited to key personnel only, as well a four family members for each player.

Mammoth – The National Lacrosse League has suspended all gameplay until further notice.

Nuggets – All games scheduled for March 12 and later are currently suspended.

Rapids – MLS is suspending its season until further notice.

RockiesMLB Commissioner Robert Manfred has canceled the remainder of this year’s spring training games and delayed Opening Day by two weeks.

The MLB is expected to suspend spring training, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan, which will likely impact the date of Opening Day.

Avalanche – The NHL will “pause the 2019-20 season” indefinitely due to coronavirus concerns.

NASCAR – NASCAR will hold its next two Cup Series races — in Atlanta and Miami — without fans, allowing only “competitors, crews, officials and other necessary personnel …”

Golf – The 2020 Masters Tournament, which was set to take place early next month, has been postponed.
