Phillip Lindsay shines amid sluggish offensive effort from Broncos

Sep 16, 2018, 7:58 PM

Despite a sluggish offensive output that saw the Denver score no points in the first half, the Broncos managed to make a come-from-behind 20-19 win against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, largely on the heels (or feet) of Phillip Lindsay.

On the day, Lindsay ran for 107 yards on 14 carries while adding a catch for four yards.

Going over 100 all-purpose yards against the Raiders, Lindsay becomes the first undrafted player in NFL history to do so in his first two career games.

In Week 1, Lindsay rushed the ball 71 yards on 15 attempts and caught two passes, including a touchdown, for 31 yards.

After the game, 104.3 The Fan host Sandy Clough said that although there were plenty of mistakes to point out with the Broncos on Sunday, he had to highlight the individual accomplishments, with Lindsay’s being atop the pile.

“Gradually, the running game I think wore the Raiders down. Their pass rush was non-existent at the end of the game, and the Broncos found a way to win,” Clough said.

Orlando Franklin, 104.3 The Fan host, called Lindsay a “dynamic” and “exciting” young player, one in which Broncos Country can get excited about.

“What he’s done so far, he hasn’t looked like a rookie. He’s gone out there and gotten better each and every week, but he has not looked like a rookie nor has he made these rookie mistakes,” Franklin said.
