104.3 The Fan reacts to the Broncos nail-biting win over the Raiders

The Denver Broncos squeaked by the Oakland Raiders at home on Sunday with a last-second, game-winning field goal from Brandon McManus. Here’s how the hosts of 104.3 The Fan reacted:

Mike Evans (“Schlereth and Evans”):

Through two weeks, I’m still not sure Case Keenum is the answer. But there’s no doubting the guy battles.

He’s got a lot of guts. And, for a Broncos team that has been soft the last couple of years, he brings them something they desperately need.

DMac (“The Drive with Big Al and DMac”):

The Denver Broncos didn’t get lucky. The win counts the same as any other win.

It’s critically important they won two of the easiest games of the season. It sets up a “doesn’t really matter” game in Baltimore next week with a season-defining match up with the Kansas City Chiefs in two weeks.

Case Keenum was great when it mattered most, and that’s why he’s here.

Fans are upset about Demaryius Thomas, and rightfully so. The transition to Courtland Sutton could happen sooner than expected.

In the end, Tim Patrick (who is not a rookie) comes up with the biggest and smartest play of the day. A very solid win against a very poor Raiders team.

Sandy Clough:

Zach Bye (“Stokley and Zach”):

I’m incredibly impressed with the resilience of the Denver Broncos as a whole but specifically Case Keenum. He needs to clean up the turnovers. Nobody would deny that. He’d probably be the first to tell you that. But overcoming adversity in consecutive weeks in the moments when it mattered the most is what I’ll ultimately take away from the Broncos 2-0 start.

Don’t forget, the game-winning drive started with a holding penalty. It’s first-and-20 on the Broncos own 20-yard line. Keenum overcame it. Demaryius Thomas has his third drop of the game on that series, too. Keenum overcame it. If Keenum couldn’t get it done through the air he did it with his legs.

Case Keenum is not one of the five best quarterbacks in the NFL. He may not be in the top 10. But, he’s proving that he can win games for you, and that matters more than where he ranks on any list.

Orlando Franklin and John Davis:

Cecil Lammey (“Pritchard and Cecil”):

The Denver Broncos waited too long to get Emmanuel Sanders involved.

After snaring 10 catches for 135 yards and a touchdown against Seattle in Week 1, Sanders had zero targets after one half of play.

He has established the strongest chemistry with Case Keenum and the team needed to get him involved earlier in this contest.
