Report: Royce Freeman to be named Broncos No. 1 running back

After battling it out with Devontae Booker for the top running back spot, Royce Freeman is expected to be named the Denver Broncos first-string running back when the team’s depth chart drops later today, per The Denver Post’s Ryan O’Halloran.
Per source, #Broncos RB Royce Freeman will be listed as No. 1 on depth chart later today.

During the preseason, Freeman rushed for more touchdowns than not only all NFL rookies but all players with three.
The rookie third-round pick ran for 84 yards on 15 attempts for an average of 5.6 yards per carry while Booker had just 33 yards on nine attempts for 3.7 yards per carry.
Freeman also had two runs of 20 yards or more during this preseason, compared to Booker, who’s had just one in his two previous seasons in the NFL.
