Broncos officially say goodbye to Dre Greenlaw, thank him for his time in Denver

News broke earlier this week the Denver Broncos would be moving on from linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

On Thursday, that became official, with the organization cutting Greenlaw with a post-June 1 designation. This will allow Denver to save about $8 million against the salary cap.

The Broncos thanked Greenlaw in a social media post after he played in eight games during the 2025 regular season.

Greenlaw was an exciting free-agent signing this time last year, but it never seemed to really work. He signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the Broncos last March, but the deal included a potential out after one season. Greenlaw ultimately earned approximately $10.5 million for a single injury-riddled campaign.

He battled all summer, but wasn’t on the field until Week 7 after fighting a quad injury. Then, following a memorable win over the New York Giants, Greenlaw was suspended one game for an alleged altercation with an official.

Ultimately he finished with 43 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception during his time in orange and blue.

Head coach Sean Payton and GM George Paton made signing inside linebackers Justin Strnad and Alex Singleton priorities for free agency, clearing the way to release Greenlaw after a single disappointing season.

We’ll see what’s next for the 28-year-old, but the Broncos have seen enough and now officially moved on.
