Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw suspended one game for chasing a referee

Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw made his orange and blue debut on Sunday.

Unfortunately, he likely won’t play next week against the Dallas Cowboys.

The NFL announced on Monday that Greenlaw has been suspended one game for chasing referee Brad Allen after the Broncos stunned the Giants 33-32 with a walk-off field goal. The league also said that Greenlaw “verbally threatened” Allen.

There’s video of the incident, as Dre Greenlaw clearly wasn’t happy with something despite Denver’s improbable victory.

It’s obviously unclear what Dre Greenlaw said to Allen, but it was enough to make the official throw a flag even though the game was over.

According to multiple reports, Greenlaw will appeal the suspension, so there’s still some chance he’ll be on the field against the Cowboys if the ruling gets reversed.

Greenlaw, who had battled a quad injury for months, was activated from IR on Saturday. He played 21 snaps, registering six total tackles and a QB hit.

The Broncos used Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad at inside linebacker a fair amount, like they had all season, and that will be the plan once again this Sunday unless Greenlaw’s suspension is overturned.
