Broncos keep another inside linebacker, re-sign Alex Singleton

The Denver Broncos are keeping yet another inside linebacker.

One day after agreeing to a deal with Justin Strnad, the Broncos have reached a new contract with Alex Singleton. That information broke about five hours after the tampering period opened around the NFL.

Singleton is coming off a season in which he played 16 of 17 games for the Broncos and recorded 135 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. He also bravely and openly battled testicular cancer, missing only one game for it, which is frankly remarkable.

According to 9NEWS and 104.3 The Fan insider Mike Klis, Singleton will get $11 million of the $15.5 million contract guaranteed and $3 million of it as a signing bonus.

Singleton tore his ACL early in the 2024 season, but was a key piece for Vance Joseph’s group in 2025. He and Strnad played a lot together, with fellow inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw having a shaky first season with the Broncos plagued by injury and a one-game suspension. It was reported shortly after the Singleton deal that Greenlaw is being released.

Denver went 14-3 and reached the AFC Championship before falling one step short of the Super Bowl in a 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots.

It certainly wasn’t the defense’s fault on that snowy day at Empower Field at Mile High and George Paton and Sean Payton clearly feel the same way, retaining as many of their own guys as possible, while making some tweaks along the way.
