DENVER — It appears as if the Broncos will have wide receiver Jaylen Waddle available for Sunday afternoon’s battle for first place in the AFC West.
Waddle is expected to play, per a report from NFL on CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson, who will work the broadcast of the game along with the rest of CBS’ No. 1 announcing crew.
The Broncos’ leader in receptions and receiving yardage, Waddle left last Sunday’s game in the final moments after aggravating a chest injury on a reverse that Sean Payton called — and later bashed himself for doing so — with Denver up 14 points and trying to close out what would be a 30-16 win.
Waddle did not practice last Wednesday and was limited in the two days of work that followed.
Meanwhile, the Broncos’ pass catchers will go against a depleted Kansas City cornerback corps. The team ruled out L’Jarius Sneed on Friday and then downgraded rookie Mansoor Delane to “out” on Saturday. Sneed was also placed on injured reserve Saturday.
Delane had the interception of Bo Nix on the game’s third play back in Kansas City’s Week 1 31-10 romp.
With Waddle available and a battered Chiefs secondary on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage, Nix and the Broncos’ pass-catching targets could be in line for the type of breakout performance that they’ve been missing so far this year, although they took steps in the right direction toward it last week.
