Clayton: The Broncos secondary is the key to huge game against Chiefs

Dec 3, 2021, 4:12 PM

The Broncos are getting ready for their biggest game since Super Bowl 50. Their Sunday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs is huge.

The Chiefs are reestablishing themselves are one of the best team in the AFC. Patrick Mahomes has cut down on his mistakes and playing at a high level. The defense is good and it’s healthy.

The matchup is Mahomes versus Teddy Bridgewater. Despite a shin injury that put Bridgewater on the sidelines for past of last week’s game, he was able to beat Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs and Mahomes are a bigger challenge. Plus, the Chiefs home-field advantage will be a problem.

Still don’t rule out a Broncos win. They need a fast offensive start from Bridgewater. They need great production from the talented receiving corps. They won’t have Melvin Gordon, but Javonte Williams has been a stud since being drafted.

The big matchup is on defense. The strength of the Broncos defense is the secondary. How it matches up against the fast receiving corps is the key. They also have to figure out a way to stop tight end Travis Kelce. The Broncos young linebacker corps will also be challenged.

This is a big one. The Broncos vow to be ready.
