Broncos reportedly still interested in Aaron Rodgers

Sep 12, 2021, 11:30 AM | Updated: 11:31 am

It appears the Denver Broncos aren’t quite ready to give up on the prospects of Aaron Rodgers wearing orange and blue.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that the Broncos are still interested trading for the reigning MVP should Rodgers become available next offseason.

Said Rapoport during “NFL GameDay Morning” on Sunday:

“I’m told that the Denver Broncos, who would have been interested this past offseason, remain interested and could try to trade for Rodgers and make a substantial offer after this season. They have not yet committed to a long-term quarterback.”

In an interview with Fox’s Erin Andrews that aired Sunday morning, Rodgers said a trade out of Green Bay seemed to be a realistic option during the NFL Draft earlier this year. Denver’s Sports Station 104.3 The Fan’s Mark Schlereth first reported at the time that a deal to bring the quarterback to the Broncos was imminent.

“Because they wouldn’t commit to me past 2021,” Rodgers said. “So, I figured, if they wanted to make a change, even though I just won MVP, why wait? They drafted my replacement, so let him play, if that’s what you want.”

In the interview, Rodgers also said he could have pictured himself not playing again as well.
