A pair of free agent wide receivers impressed the Denver Broncos enough during their minicamp tryouts this week that the team has signed them.
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported Thursday morning that Denver had signed De’Mornay Pierson-El to its roster, which was followed by a report from 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis that said the team had signed Amara Darboh as well.
Pierson-El has kicked around not only the NFL with the Washington Football Team and Las Vegas Raiders but also the CFL, AAF and XFL.
During his collegiate tenure at Nebraska, Pierson-El caught 100 passes for the Cornhuskers and he returned three punts for touchdowns during his freshman season.
Darboh comes in with a little more experience than Pierson-El, having played 16 games for the Seattle Seahawks in 2017.
A third-round pick out of Michigan in 2017, Darboh failed to make the Seahawks 53-man roster after his rookie season, when he caught just eight passes for 71 yards.
Since his first season in the league, Darboh hasn’t played a regular season down but has had stays with the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers.
Former Seahawk linebacker and special teamer Shaquem Griffin had also tried out for the Broncos during minicamp this week, but Klis reports that while the team was “impressed” they aren’t signing any linebackers at this time.
