The flames of Deshaun Watson rumors involving the Denver Broncos got stoked again this week, and one NFL columnist writes the two could make a good pair in the Mile High City.
On Friday, NFL.com columnist Jeffri Chadiha wrote the Broncos “make a lot of sense” for Watson and vice versa.
“They have plenty of young talent on offense and defense, and an ultra-talented quarterback would instantly make them serious contenders in the AFC,” Chadiha writes. “As much as Denver’s selling (Drew) Lock and (Teddy) Bridgewater right now, this team isn’t getting by Kansas City without some serious firepower on offense.”
Chadiha’s comments follow reports this week that Watson has his eyes still set on Denver this offseason. In an interview with former Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib on his podcast “Catchin’ Fades,” Denver safety Kareem Jackson said his former Houston Texans teammate recently expressed interest in playing in orange and blue.
“I’ve got a great relationship with Deshaun. I’ve been talking to him the last couple of weeks, and all he’s been telling me like, ‘Look, ‘Jack’, just tell them that’s where I want to be,’ Jackson said.
Jackson made similar claims in an interview with TMZ in February, though interest in Watson has cooled since then as the quarterback faces nearly two dozen lawsuits filed by women alleging sexual assault.
“He’s had 22 civil lawsuits filed against him claiming coercive and lewd behavior. No criminal charges have been filed and his lawyer has denied the accusations,” Chadiha writes. “If Watson clears his name, Denver becomes a prime relocation option.”
