Broncos RB Gordon in line for another big payday

Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay were supposed to be one of the great running back duos in the NFL during the 2020 season. But, unfortunately, injuries, fit and play calling made last year a massive disappointment.
The Denver Broncos eventually released Lindsay, and now Gordon has a one-year tryout for another big payday.
Gordon signed a two-year deal worth $16 million with $13.5 million fully guaranteed. At only 27 years old, he will now have another chance at a big payout, whether it’ll be back in Denver or a new team in 2022.
A top tier running back the second half of the 2020 season, Gordon was running well early in the season as well despite questionable use. He fits the mold of a workhorse back — someone who can play all four downs, catch the ball and provide pass protection. If the Broncos commit to him, he will surely receive calls for a new contract. There is always a team willing to pay big for a running back.
Broncos Country wasn’t exactly thrilled when Denver signed Gordon, but he was one of the few bright spots on Denver’s offense in 2020. Averaging 4.6 yards per carry, Gordon brought some stability to the run game, especially during the second half of the year.
If Gordon can keep up his momentum for 2021, he’ll be in line for another big paycheck in 2022.
