Broncos want Von Miller in orange and blue in 2021

As George Paton embarks on his tenure as the Denver Broncos general manager, one thing is a clear priority: a strong pass rush.
“I think in this league … you need pressure and you need cover players,” Paton told a group of media members in a video press conference Thursday.
“You look at the good defenses around the league, (they’re) teams that can rush the quarterback and teams that can cover. So, that’s going to be a priority here.”
With that in mind, Paton said the goal for his team is to keep future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller in Denver for foreseeable future.
“We want to bring Von back, and we’re still working through that,” Paton said. “I don’t want to get into everything, but we want to bring him back.”
The Broncos have until the start of the new NFL league year on March 17 to exercise a club option on Miller, which would guarantee the All-Pro $7 million of his $18 million salary for 2021 — the final year of his current contract.
However, potential off-the-field legal issues loom for Miller, who has been the target of a criminal investigation by the Parker Police Department since January.
Late last month, Parker police submitted the results of its investigation to the 18th Judicial District Attorney, though no decision on charges have been made and a case has not been filed.
“In regard to the legal process, we’re just going to let the legal process play out. But, obviously, it’s a serious situation,” Paton said. “But we want to let it play out before we comment on that.”
