The GM search has shown just how deeply the Broncos are in the mud

The Broncos season ended in disaster. The team is entering a lame-duck period in 2021 with ownership, so their new GM will be stuck with a coaching staff he didn’t hire and the QB situation is a giant question mark. 2021 is going to be season with high standards and the Broncos are woefully unprepared for the future.
Vic Fangio has a head coaching record of 12-20. The Broncos have said he will return for 2021 and help in hiring the new GM. How does having a losing head coach pick a GM a winning strategy? Call me crazy, but having a head coach with a losing record help hire a GM to turn around a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in five years seems bad.
Drew Lock had a very underwhelming first season as a starter for the Broncos, but if the Broncos draft a QB, do you honestly trust Pat Shurmur and Fangio to develop that quarterback? Therefore, the Broncos ditching Lock doesn’t make sense given who is coaching this team.
John Elway is still going to be “involved” in football operations. Will this new GM be empowered at all? Or will he basically be a puppet for this current Broncos front office? What is the point of hiring a GM if they’re not in charge of building this team?
2021 is setting up for disaster for the broncos. They have front office guys in the last year of their contracts, are hiring a new GM, have massive questions at QB with no realistic answers, and have a head coach with a losing record who is not improving. The AFC West is getting better and the Broncos are stuck in the mud.
