Clough would take Devin White with Broncos No. 10 pick or trade down

Since 104.3 The Fan’s Cecil Lammey had the Denver Broncos taking inside linebacker Devin White in his first mock draft, the LSU prospect has climbed up the draft board in the opinion of many prognosticators, including Lammey himself.
But, on Friday, The Fan’s Sandy Clough said if the talented defender still manages to drop to the Broncos slot at No. 10, he’d take him. Otherwise, Denver should trade back.
“I’d take Devin White if he’s there and trade down if he’s not,” Clough said.
Denver could, however, still land an inside linebacker later in the first round, and one with the first name Devin to boot.
“And it is possible that if Devin White is gone, even if you trade down you might get another inside linebacker named Devin,” Clough said. “In this case, it’s Devin Bush from Michigan, who’s also a junior and has speed that’s approximately equal to Devin White’s speed.”
At the NFL Scouting Combine, White was slightly quicker than Bush in the 40-yard dash (4.42 to 4.43 seconds) and 20-yard shuttle (4.17 to 4.23 seconds), but Bush topped White in the three-cone drill (6.93 to 7.07 seconds).
Bush also outjumped White both in the vertical jump (40.5 to 39.5 inches) and the broad jump (124.0 to 118.0 inches) but fell one rep short on the bench press (21).
If the Broncos do stay at No. 10, however, and don’t snag White, Clough said he doesn’t believe they’ll be drafting a cornerback or tight end there.
“My strong suspicion is they will be drafting a defensive lineman, possibly an edge rusher,” Clough said.
