Demaryius Thomas has a “legitimate beef” with how his trade was handled by the Denver Broncos, specifically head coach Vance Joseph, Mark Schlereth said on Wednesday.
In a recent interview, Thomas said he felt lied to by Joseph, saying the coach had told him to ignore rumors about a trade because they weren’t real.
“… You have a legitimate beef. As a football player, as a guy on that team, I just want the truth,” the “Schlereth and Evans” co-host said.
Schlereth said he doesn’t necessarily know if Joseph was lying or legitimately didn’t know Thomas was being traded, but either way, he said the coach handled the situation incorrectly.
“Maybe Vance isn’t lying, but he’s certainly is not dealing with the player the way the player needs to be dealt with. Meaning this is another part of the learning curve, this learning curve that we’ve been going through now for a year and a half,” Schlereth said.
“You don’t come out and say hey, no, there’s no way we’re trading you, man. Don’t even worry. Don’t listen to the rumors.”
