CSU inks naming rights agreement for new on-campus stadium

Apr 19, 2018, 12:14 PM

The recently unveiled on-campus stadium at CSU will no longer go without a name to pair with Sonny Lubick Field.

The university announced on Thursday that it had signed a stadium naming agreement with Public Service Credit Union worth $37.7 million.

Combined with the $20 million donated in 2016 to name the field after Lubick, who was the Rams head coach from 1993 to 2007 and serves as the vice president for community outreach with PSCU, the deal makes one of the largest collegiate athletic venue naming agreements in history, according to a university release.

“We have been seeking an appropriate naming rights partner for the stadium and Public Service Credit Union surpasses our expectations on every dimension,” said Joe Parker, CSU director of athletics. “We are thrilled to align with PSCU as we both strive to serve our respective and collective stakeholders in Colorado and beyond.”

The stadium name will be revealed once PCSU finishes its rebranding efforts, Parker said.

CSU opened the new $225 million, 727,000-square-foot on-campus stadium in the summer of 2017, first using it for football games this past season.

Since its opening, the Rams set an all-time football attendance record (192,369), average 32,062 fans per-game — a 16 percent increase from 2016.

According to a release, season ticket sales for CSU football also reached an all-time high of 15,477, a 40 percent increase from 2016.
