Shedeur Sanders joined Joe Burrow, made NFL history in dazzling performance

Former CU Buffs superstar QB Shedeur Sanders was excellent on Sunday.

Making his third start for the Cleveland Browns, Sanders played by far his best game as a pro. In fact, he had one of the top quarterback outings throughout the entire league in Week 14.

Sanders threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran the ball three times for 29 yards and another score. The Browns scored 29 points, their second highest output of the season.

Unfortunately, down 31-29 late to the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland took Shedeur Sanders off the field for a two-point conversion that could’ve tied the game. That’s creating controversy, given how well he was playing, but the reality is Sanders looks like the clear best QB on the Browns roster.

Think about that for a second. The Super Bowl era is 60 years old, and Shedeur Sanders and Burrow are the only two rookie QBs ever to put up that kind of stat line.

It’s absolutely ridiculous he fell to the fifth-round of the 2025 NFL Draft, as Sanders outplayed No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward in this game by a wide margin. Yes, he might’ve made some mistakes during the pre-draft process, but Sanders has the talent to be a starter in the league every week.

It’ll be fun to watch him during the Browns final four contests of the season, a clear audition to be Cleveland’s No. 1 QB in 2026. And based on what he did this weekend, that is a realistic goal for Shedeur Sanders.
