Sean Payton provides encouraging update on Riley Moss and his rib injury
"He's doing fine. I would say this, nothing serious. We're being smart," Broncos head coach Sean Payton said of the rib injury to CB Riley Moss

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton doesn’t usually like to discuss injuries.
But this time of year, a few weeks before the regular season, he can be a little more loose with the updates.
And on Monday afternoon after the Broncos wrapped up another practice, Payton had an encouraging update on cornerback Riley Moss.
He left the Broncos preseason game against the Packers on Friday night after just two plays with a rib injury. Moss didn’t practice Monday, but was on the side / rehab field.
“He’s doing fine. I would say this, nothing serious. We’re being smart. We’ll see as the week progresses where he’s at,” Sean Payton said.
That’s obviously a huge sigh of relief for Broncos Country, as getting through a preseason game without a serious injury is a win for any team. It sounds like Moss dodged one and should be back to 100 percent well before the team’s regular season opener on Sept. 14 against the Chiefs.
Moss actually appeared to recover a fumble against the Packers after Pat Surtain II stripped the football from Christian Watson, but it turns out Watson’s knee was down. Moss eventually went to the blue medical tent and then the locker room and didn’t return.
Former first-round pick Jahdae Barron took Moss’s snaps on the outside, opposite of Surtain. The Packers found the end zone against Denver’s No. 1 defense to take an early 7-0 lead in a 33-13 beatdown.
But this time of year, the final score doesn’t matter and health does. It’s big for the Broncos that Moss should be just fine, according to Sean Payton.
