Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton accomplished something special on Sunday afternoon.
As did the whole team.
Payton earned his 200th career victory in Denver’s epic 28-24 comeback win against the Kansas City Chiefs to take over first place in the AFC West.
Payton became the sixth fastest coach in NFL history to reach the milestone, something that will only strengthen his Hall of Fame case one day.
Postgame, Payton credited Broncos Country for the noise and atmosphere they created on a critical goal-line stand at the buzzer at Empower Field at Mile High.
But inside the Denver locker room, it was all about Sean Payton, as it should be. The team released this awesome video of him getting mobbed by the players and then delivering an emotional speech.

Sean Payton received a game-ball from Broncos owner / CEO Greg Penner and was surrounded by the players in the smoke-filled winning locker room.
“There’s gonna be a day though where every one of us gets off that train,” Payton told the room. “I don’t care if it’s 200 wins, 50 wins, we’re all better for having had a chance to (inaudible). I love every one of you. I can’t believe that was 200.”
It really was an incredible way for Payton to hit the number, as down 24-13 in the fourth quarter things looked bleak, before the Broncos found their magic touch again.
“It’s everybody in the process. I don’t care what you do. I don’t care what you do, it’s essential, it’s essential to be special,” Sean Payton concluded.
This is a moment the head coach and the entire organization will remember for a long time.
And who knows, maybe it’s only the beginning of a special season that will end in the Broncos earning their fourth Lombardi Trophy.
