Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton isn’t going to engage about trade rumors.

Even though the rest of the NFL is constantly talking about the idea that Denver could make a big deal between now and next Tuesday’s deadline.

Payton held his usual Monday morning conference call after a game and was asked about the speculation. He shot it down in a way that only Payton can.

“You mean Internet gossip? (GM) George (Paton) and I will spend time on looking at the team anyway where we can improve it. But I’m not going to answer your questions about Internet gossip,” Sean Payton said.

That’s the perfect response, especially with the chatter heating up the Broncos could land Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor. A second ESPN report came out over the weekend that Denver is on the list of potential Taylor destinations.

The CBS broadcast of Jim Nantz and J.J. Watt also brought it up on Sunday, an epic Broncos comeback win against the Chiefs to take over first place in the AFC West.

Jonah Coleman looks like he has a firm grip on the No. 1 running back job, with J.K. Dobbins barely seeing the field in the second half versus Kansas City.

Dobbins finished with seven carries for 13 yards, while Coleman had 11 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. He added four receptions for 63 yards, including a monster play late in the fourth quarter that set up the game-winning touchdown — scored by Coleman.

It might be a wild eight days of tracking trade rumors, but Sean Payton isn’t going to add any fuel to the fire.

That means it’s up to the rest of us to “gossip” about what the Broncos may or may not do.
