Greg Penner has ‘zero concern’ about the health of Bo Nix moving forward

Denver Broncos owner and CEO Greg Penner covered a wide variety of topics on Wednesday.

He answered questions about his expectations moving forward, the new stadium and Denver’s approach in free agency.

But there’s no bigger topic when it comes to the Broncos right now than the health of QB Bo Nix.

Nix fractured his ankle in OT of the divisional round against the Buffalo Bills. He obviously couldn’t play in the AFC Title Game, so the Broncos had to turn to backup Jarrett Stidham. They managed only seven points and lost 10-7, sending the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl.

Penner was asked about his level of concern with Nix’s durability moving forward, considering he’s now had multiple ankle surgeries dating back to high school.

“Zero concern. His surgery was a straightforward surgery that went very well, absolutely no issues there or concerns going forward,” Penner said.

That’s an encouraging statement that Broncos Country will love to hear. When the CEO of the organization isn’t worried, the fans shouldn’t be either.

Penner went on to praise Nix, who led the Broncos to a 14-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

“I thought he had, as a second-year quarterback, a fantastic season. He won 15 games for us. He showed his mettle in the fourth quarter a lot of times, bringing us back. He would say the same thing. It’s only his second year in the league, and he has room to grow. Fortunately, Bo has a terrific approach to studying and working. He loves the game. I look forward to watching his continued improvement over the coming years,” Penner said.

That 15th win came against the Bills in the postseason, before Nix was denied a shot at No. 16 in the AFC Championship.

The Broncos will be back and so will Nix. It’s nice to know Penner isn’t fretting the future for his franchise QB.
