Greg Penner says Broncos are ‘not satisfied’ and ‘have a lot of work to do’

Denver Broncos owner and CEO Greg Penner met with the media on Wednesday.

And his opening statement is one Broncos Country will love to hear.

Penner isn’t happy with just being in the AFC Title Game, he wants this team to go further in the future. Sunday’s 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots was frustrating, particularly because the Broncos had to play backup QB Jarrett Stidham after starter Bo Nix broke his ankle in OT against the Bills.

“Obviously, the result on Sunday was disappointing, not what we were expecting. The finality of it is tough, this is our fourth season, two going out in the playoffs, and it hits you pretty hard,” Penner said.

Still, the Broncos have been on a meteoric rise under Greg Penner and the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group. With the disaster of the Russell Wilson trade and contract behind them, Denver returned to the postseason in 2024.

Then this year the Broncos went 14-3, earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC, and came within a couple mistakes from going to the Super Bowl.

“I thought it was a pretty unforgettable season that we’ll look back on. There was a lot of successes and Carrie (Walton-Penner) and I and the rest of the ownership group couldn’t be more proud of obviously each of the players, but also our coaching staff, Sean Payton, George Paton what he’s done with the front office, everything through the game-day experience, our training room, really a lot of hard work went in to making this what it was,” Penner said.

Penner has returned the franchise to respectability after some lean years following the thrill of winning Super Bowl 50. He also made sure to give a shoutout to Broncos Country.

“Our fans were just incredible. Main message is we’re not satisfied, we know we have a lot of work to do. We’ve obviously made a lot of progress in the last four years. But we’re gonna work our tails of this offseason and come in next year ready to go,” Penner said.

That’s the part that will fire the fans up. Greg Penner isn’t doing this to come close to winning a championship, he wants to take the whole thing.

It won’t be the Broncos this year, but they were definitely close. It sounds like Greg Penner is willing to do whatever it takes to get them over the top.
