Denver Broncos owner and CEO Greg Penner did something very cool on Sunday.

He gave head coach Sean Payton a game ball in the locker room after the Broncos rallied to stun the Eagles 21-17 in Philadelphia.

Payton passed his mentor, Bill Parcells, on the all-time wins list for NFL head coaches. It was regular season victory No. 173 in Payton’s long coaching career between New Orleans and Denver.

“One thing here, incredibly proud of you guys, this was an amazing win,” Greg Penner told the players.

“I’ve had a chance to get to know Hall of Fame Coach Bill Parcells over the last few years. We all know what a mentor and friend he’s been to our coach Sean Payton. Today, Sean passed coach Parcells on wins,” Penner continued.

It was the cherry on top of what was a great day for the Broncos. Payton had a gutsy two-point call, Denver finally closed out a good opponent in the fourth quarter and they’re now tied atop the AFC West with a 3-2 record.

And if you watch Payton at the start of the video, you can tell how proud he is of this Broncos team. The locker room looked like a party, not only defeating the defending champs on the road, but the milestone for Payton.

Now, they’ll look to keep it rolling, and hopefully Greg Penner will have plenty more game balls to hand out the rest of this season and beyond.
