Broncos DC Vance Joseph says Bills QB Josh Allen ‘can wreck your dreams’

Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has prepared for all the best QBs in the NFL throughout his career.

One of his biggest tests, ever, might come Saturday when the Broncos square off against Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Buffalo and Denver will do battle at Empower Field at Mile High. The winner is through to the AFC Championship Game, while the loser goes home.

And while the Broncos are healthier than the Bills, Allen is the ultimate x-factor.

Asked about him after practice on Wednesday, Vance Joseph praised Allen much like head coach Sean Payton did earlier in the week.

“He’s a special player, obviously. It’s certain guys in this league that can take over games, and he’s one of those guys. But we knew to win the championship here, it was going to go through Patrick (Mahomes) and Lamar (Jackson) and Josh and Joe Burrow. I mean, that’s the AFC side, unfortunately, that’s where we live. So we knew we got to face one of those guys eventually,” Joseph said.

Mahomes, Burrow and Jackson all missed the playoffs. So it’s Allen left standing from that group, but the Broncos will have to take him out.

Vance Joseph even admitted that when the AFC North was on the line 10 days ago, he had a clear rooting interest.

“Watching Pittsburgh and Baltimore last week, I was cheering for Pittsburgh because I knew that Lamar can wreck your dreams and so can Josh. So that’s part of it, if you’re going to win the AFC side, it’s going through those four guys and it’s our turn,” Joseph said.

It’s a healthy respect from Vance Joseph for the four elite quarterbacks in the AFC over the last several years.

However, there could be a changing of the guard that features Bo Nix, Drake Maye and others. The Broncos are hoping to accelerate that process with a victory on Saturday.
