Nik Bonitto joins group of stars investing in OKC soccer team

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Nik Bonitto signed a four-year contract extension last summer worth more than $100 million.
And Bonitto is worth every penny, posting 14 sacks in 2025, following up 13.5 sacks in 2024.
He was even in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year conversation into December. Bonitto wrecked a bunch of games and the Broncos defense helped propel Denver to a 14-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Now, he’s using some of that money to invest in interests outside of football.
On Thursday morning, Bonitto and Boardroom posted on Instagram that he’s part of a star-studded group putting money towards OKC United, Oklahoma City’s new professional club set to join the USL Championship in 2028.
Nik Bonitto played his college football at the University of Oklahoma and joins the likes of Russell Westbrook, Jozy Altidore, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Williams and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone investing in the club.
“This was the kind of long-term opportunity you don’t pass on, and a chance to invest in a city I care about for the long haul,” Bonitto told Boardroom.
OKC United has been on hiatus since 2022 but is planning a return in 2028. Clearly, Bonitto wanted to be part of that. And having Westbrook, Mayfield and others on board shows what a big project this is.
A new stadium which will seat more than 15,000 fans is in the works, so that’s definitely a large part of where the money is going. And if the club is successful, Bonitto will not only be part of the re-launch, but likely turn a profit on his investment as well.
