Altitude offers Comcast same pricing as AT&T Sportsnet and the Rockies

Jul 20, 2022, 11:45 AM | Updated: 5:25 pm

Altitude TV is going public with its latest offer to get the Avalanche, Nuggets and Rapids back on Comcast.

The company released a statement on Wednesday offering their latest terms. To keep it simple, they’re basically telling Comcast, give us the same deal as the Rockies.

“Altitude remains committed to exploring all avenues to return the network to Comcast. With that in mind, Altitude is offering to match the same pricing terms and distribution model Comcast has provided to AT&T Sportsnet Rocky Mountain (the television home of the Colorado Rockies). AT&T Sportsnet Rocky Mountain has been carried without interruption by Comcast,” the TV network wrote in the statement.

The ongoing dispute between Altitude and Comcast that has kept the Avalanche, Nuggets and Rapids blacked out the last three seasons has been frustrating for fans throughout Colorado. The two sides had a second mediation attempt last week regarding their antitrust lawsuit and reached no resolution.

With the 2022-23 seasons just a couple of months away for the Avs and Nuggets, it’s a real possibility the games will be off Comcast for a fourth straight season. It’d be indefensible if the teams were bad, but it’s even more infuriating considering the Avalanche just won the Stanley Cup and the Nuggets have the back-to-back MVP in Nikola Jokic.

This latest news, however, could be a step in the right direction.

“Our goal is a simple one. We want to return the Nuggets, Avs, Rapids, and Mammoth games back to our fans on Comcast,” said Matt Hutchings, President of KSE Media Ventures in the release. “Comcast representatives have recently said that they are fans of the Avs, Nuggets, and Rapids. Our hope is that by offering Comcast a model they’ve clearly been comfortable with over the last three years, we might give fans throughout the Front Range back the championship teams they’ve been missing.”

Stay tuned. And hopefully you’ll be able to tune in again soon.

(Update 5:25 p.m.) – Via Kyle Frederickson of The Denver Post, Comcast has released a statement on this latest proposal from Altitude.

That’s quite the contradiction from Leslie Oliver, who said just last week, “We are fans of the Avs, Nuggets and Rapids, and we share the Colorado hockey fans’ excitement around the Avs amazing Stanley Cup win.” Today, Oliver says “most Comcast customers have no interest” in those teams.

There’s plenty of fault to go around, but Oliver clearly can’t pick a lane. And it appears we’re no closer to a resolution. Sigh.
