It’s finally complete!

The best trophy in sports had been on a world tour as Colorado Avalanche players and staff celebrated the team’s epic 2021-22 Stanley Cup championship. But with a new season beginning, the Cup headed back to Canada, where the labor intensive process of engraving names on the trophy began.

That task is finished, as the Avs shared photos on Friday morning of everyone’s names permanently on the trophy. From the Kroenke family, to Joe Sakic and Jared Bednar, to the players, they’re all there.

Even folks who you may not know, assistant coaches, trainers and PR staff made the Cup. It’s a very neat honor, as everyone involved played a part in Colorado winning its first NHL title since 2001.

How cool is that? The attention to detail and work to do those engravings by hand is almost impossible to imagine. It’s fun to see them all, especially as you go through player by player and think about the key moments each one had during the playoffs.

It was a dominant postseason for the Avalanche, going 16-4 overall and never losing more than two games in a series. In fact, they had two sweeps, and two 4-2 series wins.

Now, let’s hope the 2022-23 Avalanche find their way onto the Cup. It’d be a lot of the same names, but some new ones as well. The only thing better than one championship is another.
