We knew it was a possibility, now it’s reportedly official.
Former Broncos running back and hometown kid Phillip Lindsay will likely play against Denver later tonight at Empower Field at Mile High. It will mark Lindsay’s first game back in Colorado since leaving the team after the 2020 season.
The #Colts are elevating RB Phillip Lindsay from the practice squad for tonight’s game against the #Broncos, per source.
So with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) out, Lindsay is set to make his Indianapolis debut against his old team in Denver.

As Pelissero mentions, and as we told you on Wednesday, Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor is out. That’s a big break for the Broncos and a big opportunity for Lindsay. The Colts also have Nyheim Hines and Deon Jackson as healthy running backs on the 53-man roster.
Lindsay, of course, played his high school football at Denver South and college ball at the University of Colorado. He went undrafted in 2018 before catching on with the Broncos. Lindsay posted back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in ’18 and 2019 and scored 16 total rushing touchdowns. He had a down year in 2020 before playing for the Texans and Dolphins a season ago.
Lindsay was signed by the Colts, then cut, then added back to the practice squad as preseason wrapped up at the end of August. He’s yet to appear in a regular season game with Indy, but his big chance will come tonight with plenty of fans in the house that still love him.
