The Denver Broncos will catch a huge break come Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Running back Jonathan Taylor will not play in Denver because of an ankle injury.
While Taylor is off to a slower start this season, only scoring one touchdown through four games, he’s still amassed 328 yards on the ground and another 44 through the air. That’s about a quarter of the Colts lousy offense thus far.
Last season Taylor was one of the NFL’s best players, rushing for 18 touchdowns, catching two more, and getting an NFL-best 1811 yards on the ground on a league-high 332 carries. He also caught 40 passes for 360 yards.
Veteran backup Nyheim Hines will have to step up for Indy, but a twist could be on the Colts’ practice squad. Former Bronco and local legend Phil Lindsay is on Indianapolis’s practice squad and may be activated for the game.
What was once a showdown between two of the NFL’s star backs will now see neither play as the Broncos have lost Javonte Williams for the season. Like Williams, Taylor was injured in Week 4.
