Legends Week 2021: Three Broncos greats set to appear on Wednesday

All this week, 104.3 The Fan will be visiting with people who made a huge impact on the Colorado sports scene. As part of Legends Week 2021, the station’s hosts will chat with players, coaches and broadcasters who were a major parts of the state’s athletic history.
It continues on Wednesday with three of the greatest players in Broncos history – Derek Wolfe, Steve Atwater and Howard Griffith.

Derek Wolfe
• A second-round pick in 2012, Wolfe played eight seasons in Denver
• During his time as a Broncos defensive lineman, Wolfe was a part of four AFC West championship teams
• He appeared in two Super Bowls, winning the Lombardi Trophy in 2015
• Was a part of one of the greatest defenses in NFL history, helping Denver win Super Bowl 50

Steve Atwater
• A first-round pick in 1989, Atwater played 10 seasons in Denver
• During his time in a Broncos uniform, the safety earned eight Pro Bowl invites and was named first-team All-Pro twice
• Atwater played in three Super Bowls with the Broncos, winning championships in Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII
• Atwater was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020

Howard Griffith
• Griffith signed with the Broncos as a free agent in 1997 and played five seasons in Denver
• During his first two years in orange and blue, the fullback was a part of championship teams, as the Broncos won back-to-back Super Bowls in ’97 and ’98
• Griffith was the lead blocker for multiple 1,000-yard rushers in Denver, highlighted by Terrell Davis running for 2,008 yards during the 1998 season
• The fullback scored two touchdowns in the Broncos 34-19 victory over the Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII
