Rockies SS Trevor Story lands on IL with elbow inflammation

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story has had a rough go of things thus far in 2021, and the All-Star hit another snag Saturday, landing on the injured list with right elbow inflammation.
The team placed Story on the 10-day IL retroactive to Friday after he injured his throwing elbow on a highlight defensive play against the New York Mets in game two of a doubleheader Thursday.
The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have placed infielder Trevor Story on the 10-day injured list (retro to May 28) with right elbow inflammation. Infielder Matt Adams was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

Ranging up the middle on a grounder from Mets outfielder Cameron Maybin, Story scooped up the ball, spun and threw a strike to first base for the out.
Rockies manager Bud Black said after the game that Story’s arm began tightening up as the next inning progressed, and he was taken out of the game out of an abundance of caution.
It’s unclear how long Story may be out with the elbow injury, but the injury could hamper trade talks surrounding the soon-to-be free agent.
In a corresponding move, Colorado reinstated infielder Matt Adams from the 10-day injured list ahead of the team’s doubleheader with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.
