Rockies acquire outfielder Kevin Pillar from the Boston Red Sox

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced that they have acquired outfielder Kevin Pillar from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later or cash consideration and international amateur signing bonus pool space.
Pillar, 31, has appeared in 30 games with Boston this season and has batted .274 (32-for-117) with seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 13 RBI, one stolen base and eight walks. He was signed by Boston to a one-year contract after spending a majority of the 2019 season with San Francisco, where he batted .264 (157-for-595) with 37 doubles, three triples, 21 home runs and 81 RBI in 156 games.
In parts of eight seasons with Toronto (2013-19), San Francisco (2019) and Boston (2020) has batted .261 (830-for-3,389) with 200 doubles, 12 triples, 80 home runs, 331 RBI, 84 stolen bases and 137 walks across 881 career games.
The West Hills, Calif., native was originally selected by Toronto in the 32nd round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of California State University, Dominguez Hills.
The Rockies currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
