The Chiefs did something the Broncos should have done, says DMac

This past offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs did something the Denver Broncos should have done, according to “The Drive” co-host DMac: Make way for its young, first-round quarterback.

During Super Bowl week, the Chiefs traded Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins, making way for Patrick Mahomes to take the quarterback job — something DMac said the Broncos should have done the previous year.

“The Chiefs did exactly what the Denver Broncos should have done,” DMac said.

According to DMac, sink or swim, Denver should have played Paxton Lynch and moved on from Trevor Siemian. If it worked, then you have your quarterback, he said. If not, you pick up

“You can’t have two quarterbacks sort of right there together. They’re developmentally at the same level. ‘The Decision.’ The competition. You can’t have that,” DMac said.

DMac said the Broncos are exactly where they should be with whom they drafted and acquired and should have stuck with a plan instead of trying to win from now on.

“You can’t rebuild and contend at the same time. And they were really a team in transition, and they continued to make moves for this year,” said Troy Renck, DMac’s co-host on “The Drive” on Friday.
