Schlereth: A win Thursday only ‘delays inevitable’ for Joseph, Broncos

Among the narratives heading into Thursday’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals is that Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph needs to get a win in order to save his job.
On Monday, “Stokley and Zach” co-host Brandon Stokley said as much.
“I think if you lose, you have to move on from Vance Joseph,” Stokley said.
But on Wednesday, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth said that a win for Joseph and the Broncos against the Cardinals really only “delays the inevitable” for the head coach.
“I don’t think it changes (the narrative) at all. I’ve told you all week, last week, the wheels are in motion as far as I’m concerned. I don’t think a win changes anything,” Schlereth said. “I think it delays the inevitable.
“The inevitable is that whether it’s Friday, whether it’s during the bye week, or whether it’s after the season, there will be a new coach here. Fair or unfair. Whether you have good enough players or whether you don’t have good enough players.”
Schlereth did give Joseph a potential out, saying that if the head coach can lead the Broncos to the postseason and a victory in at least one playoff game, then he’ll be able to keep his job.
“I think he’s got to get to the playoffs and have a playoff win to save his job,” Schlereth said.
