Broncos never in danger of winning Sunday, ‘outclassed’ by Rams

Oct 14, 2018, 7:31 PM | Updated: 7:32 pm

Despite what may appear at first glance as a close game between an undefeated Los Angeles Rams team and a spiraling Denver Broncos squad, objects may not be as close as they appear.

The Broncos mounted a comeback bid late against the Rams on Sunday — coming back from down 20-3 in the second half — but fell short at home 23-20.

“Though the Rams got a little careless when they were up 17, the Broncos were never in danger of winning the game today,” 104.3 The Fan host Sandy Clough said Sunday.

According to Clough, while Los Angeles have no discernible weakness, Denver has no discernible strength across the board — coaching, player personnel, interior toughness, etc.

“The Rams just have it all over the Broncos. And the difference today in the game, purely and simply, was Todd Gurley,” Clough said. “The Broncos don’t have anybody like Todd Gurley.”

On the day, Gurley rushed for a career-high 208 yards on 28 attempts for two touchdowns.

It’s the second week in a row the Denver defense allowed more than 200 yards on the ground to one running back, giving up 219 to New York Jets rusher Isaiah Crowell in Week 5.
