Broncos, Case Keenum open up preseason vs. Vikings, Kirk Cousins
Apr 11, 2018, 3:36 PM
The first game of Case Keenum’s tenure with the Denver Broncos will be against his former squad, the Minnesota Vikings, and the quarterback most compared him against in free agency, Kirk Cousins.
Denver will host Minnesota in Week 1 of the preseason (Aug. 9-12), followed by the Chicago Bears in Week 2 (Aug. 16-19), before heading on the road for its remaining two games against the Washington Redskins (Aug. 23-26) and Arizona Cardinals (Aug. 30).
Exact times and dates for the Broncos preseason games will be released when the NFL announces each team’s 2018 regular season schedule later this month.
It’s just the second time in the past 22 seasons the Broncos will open up its preseason at home. And with Denver playing Arizona in the regular season as well, it’ll be the ninth time the club’s played two games in a visitor’s stadium in the same season.
Among Denver’s four preseason opponents, the Cardinals by a wide margin clashed with Broncos in exhibition play — 27 times overall, including 12 of the past 14 years in each team’s preseason finale.
Denver’s faced off against its remaining three preseason opponents a combined 31 times — Minnesota 13 times, Chicago 11 times, and Washington 7 times.
All-time in the preseason, the Broncos own a record of 141-120 (.540 winning percentage) and have played .500 or better football in 20 of the past 22 seasons, including a 4-0 preseason record in 2017.
