Do the Broncos think Keenum as the future or just a bridge to it?

On Tuesday, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth made the analogy of new Denver Broncos starter Case Keenum as what he called a “spring break quarterback.”
In the analogy, Schlereth said if you have a memorable spring break with your buddies in college, you’re likely going to return there for years to come
“If spring break is awesome, you and your buddies end up going to that spring break location for the next 10 years together,” Schlereth said.
If not, “you never go back.”
So, the lingering question left to unravel is: Do the Broncos consider Keenum anything more than a means to an end?
Sandy Clough said on Tuesday night that general manager John Elway has “confided privately” that he’s happy with Keenum but considers him a “good bridge quarterback.”
“If they did think that Case Keenum was more than a good bridge quarterback, don’t you think they would have offered him more than two-years? Don’t you think they would have offered him more than $25 million guaranteed?” Clough said.
But that, Clough said, only reveals that Elway’s telling the truth in saying the Broncos fielding a range of ideas at the No. 5 draft position — that it doesn’t mean Denver will go quarterback there.
“That does not mean that the Broncos will most definitely take a quarterback with the fifth-overall pick in the draft,” Clough said. “It does mean that Elway is telling the truth when he says the Broncos are wide open to any number of possibilities.”
It’s more simple for Schlereth, who said that if the Broncos believe in Keenum they have to go with a “non-quarterback” impact player at No. 5.
“You get the right guy and he starts from day one. You plug him in and you play him, and he’s there from day one,” Schlereth said. “How’s it even a conversation?”
In either case, “Stokley and Zach” co-host Brandon Stokley said it comes down to if they believe in Keenum.
“If you’re looking at the next couple of years and you really believe in Case Keenum, then no chance you take a quarterback at No. 5,” Stokley said. “You take an impact player, whether it’s Saquon Barkley or (Quenton) Nelson at that spot to help Case Keenum out.
“But, if you take a quarterback at No. 5, then you just wasted a lot of time signing Case Keenum.”
