Tim Tebow, Demaryius Thomas had all-time great Broncos moment 14 years ago

When you say Tim Tebow to Demaryius Thomas, every Denver Broncos fan knows what you’re talking about.

And their famous touchdown to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers happened exactly 14 years ago.

Tebow hit Thomas for an 80-yard touchdown on the first play of overtime, sending the Broncos to a stunning 29-23 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild card round of the playoffs.

It’s an all-time great moment in Broncos history, perhaps their best ever at home considering all three Super Bowls wins came at neutral sites.

That’s the kind of highlight you can watch over and over again. Many in Broncos Country have seen it hundreds of times, but it never gets old.

The play capped Tebow-mania for the incredible journey it was during the 2011 regular season and into the playoffs. Denver had crazy win after crazy win that year — and this might’ve been the craziest.

And it’s perhaps the signature moment for the late, great Thomas. He died unexpectedly at the young age of 33, gone way too soon, but this play will always live on.

Of course, Thomas also had a Ring of Fame career with the Broncos. He put up eye-popping numbers with Peyton Manning from 2012-2015 and was a key piece on the Denver team that won Super Bowl 50. The Broncos officially put his name on the facade of the stadium earlier this season and unveiled his ROF pillar.

Thomas is missed every day and Tebow-mania was such a unique moment in time.

It’s really hard to believe it’s been 14 years.
