Patriots WR mentions Cancun after hearing about Sean Payton’s comments

At this point, almost everyone is ready for the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots to just play the AFC Title Game.

It’s Thursday afternoon, the work week is nearing an end for most, and fans are anticipating who’s going to the Super Bowl.

But this can also bring out silly season, with folks looking for any piece of extra motivation for their team.

On Wednesday, Broncos head coach Sean Payton was asked about the fans at Empower Field at Mile High. He made an innocent enough comment, basically encouraging them to be as loud as possible because there’s two weeks between now and the Super Bowl.

Some Patriots supporters took that the wrong with, saying Payton guaranteed a Denver win. He, in fact, did not.

Of course, New England players were asked about what Payton said, and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte had an interesting response.

Cancun is famously, or infamously, where athletes tend to go when they get eliminated from the playoffs. Guys head all over the world, but Cancun has become the go-to place in pop culture.

And while Payton was talking about Broncos fans and not players, it looks like Boutte pulled the Cancun card as some sort of dig.

Is this bulletin board material? To some extent, yes. Boutte is insinuating the Patriots will be in the Super Bowl while Broncos Country will be on vacation.

On the other hand, this is why the game needs to kickoff. There are hundreds of interviews being conducted between New England and Denver players combined and people tend to hang on every word.

Regardless, one team will come up just short while the other gets two weeks to prepare for the biggest game in sports.
