New Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw ranked in the top-10 at his position

The Denver Broncos landed one of the prizes in NFL free agency this offseason, inking linebacker Dre Greenlaw to a three-year deal worth $31.5 million.

And even though Greenlaw played only two games last year for the San Francisco 49ers after tearing his Achilles during Super Bowl LVIII, he’s still well respected around the league.

That much was evident on Tuesday when ESPN released its list of the top-10 off-ball linebackers in the NFL for 2025. Dre Greenlaw checked in at No. 9 after being voted into that slot by league executives, coaches and scouts.

“He’s a total savage,” an NFL coordinator told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “A top-five linebacker when healthy.”

Greenlaw’s last full season of good health was 2023, when he racked up 120 tackles for the 49ers to go along with four passes defended and 1.5 sacks. In his return last year against the Rams, Greenlaw had eight tackles on only 30 snaps.

“He’s got to stay healthy and re-prove it, but he’s a bada**, smart, strong, will knock the s*** out of you,” an NFL defensive coach told Fowler. “I see how he stays hurt so much, because he plays with so much explosion.”

The Broncos are counting on that explosion from Dre Greenlaw, as he’ll likely pair with Alex Singleton in the middle of the field to hopefully form Denver’s best inside linebacker duo since Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall. Those two were part of the famous Super Bowl 50 winning defense.

Atop this list is Greenlaw’s old teammate in San Francisco, the beast that is Fred Warner. Roquan Smith, Zack Baun, Nick Bolton and Frankie Luvu round out the top-5.

It’ll be exciting to see Dre Greenlaw in the orange and blue this year, and if he stays healthy, the Broncos got a steal in free agency.
