Former Broncos coaches VJ, Fangio and Hackett interviewing for new jobs

It’s a big day for the last three head coaches of the Denver Broncos.
All of them are interviewing for new jobs on Wednesday, per various reports from around the NFL. Vance Joseph (2017-2018) for a head-coaching position, Vic Fangio (2019-2021) for a defensive coordinator spot and Nathaniel Hackett (2022) for offensive coordinator duties.
The Cardinals will interview their own defensive coordinator, Vance Joseph, for the head coaching job on Wednesday morning. Will give the ex-Broncos coach a chance to meet with new GM Monti Ossenfort too.

The #Falcons are interviewing long-time respected defensive coordinator Vic Fangio for their vacant DC job today, sources say. The former #Broncos head coach served as defensive consultant with the #Eagles this season. Would be one of the top candidates in any DC search.

The New York Jets are currently meeting with former Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett for their offensive coordinator position, per sources.

Joseph, Fangio and Hackett were all fired after unsuccessful tenures in Denver, some worse than others. “VJ” went 11-21 over his two seasons. Fangio compiled a 19-30 record during three years at the helm. And Hackett, the worst of all, went just 4-11 in 2022 before being canned with two games to go.
It’s a tough fraternity to break into, but being an NFL coach is a great line of work. Even if you’re really bad at your job, a new opportunity will always come along. That’s not to say Joseph, Fangio and Hackett haven’t done alright in other places, but clearly their efforts with the Broncos weren’t up to par.
Meanwhile, Denver’s completed six interviews for their vacant head-coaching position, with two more to go. Let’s hope the next person in charge lasts longer than the previous three. It’d be nice to have an offseason not centered around a coaching carousel.
