Broncos have veteran Taylor Rapp back in Denver for another tryout
It sounds like Taylor Rapp will be back in the mix -- at least on the practice squad -- shortly; he was released last month to deal with a personal issue

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton told everyone don’t close the Taylor Rapp door just yet.
And it appears that Payton was telling the truth.
The Broncos signed and cut Rapp in the span of six days last month. The veteran safety needed to handle a personal issue, so Denver let him go.
But on Friday, Rapp was back in the building, having another tryout with the team. 9NEWS and 104.3 The Fan insider Mike Klis provided even more context.
Taylor Rapp was in getting checked out by Broncos today.
They had checked in with him Monday as they were setting their practice squad roster but he wasn’t ready to return from personal family matter.
If he’s ready, wouldn’t be surprised if Broncos sign him to practice squad.…— MikeKlis9NEWS (@mikeklis9news) September 4, 2026
“He needs a little time at home. Completely get what he’s needing. There’s a good chance, better than good chance… I know how he felt being here. And I think sooner than later, that’s gonna happen, but this obviously took precedence. So, we’ll just leave it at that,” Payton said on Aug. 26.
That sooner than later could be imminent, with Klis reporting he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Taylor Rapp lands on Denver’s practice squad.
The Broncos are set at starting safety with Brandon Jones and Talanoa Hufanga, but have some questions behind them.
P.J. Locke departed for the Cowboys in the offseason, so the depth chart lists Devon Key, JL Skinner and Tycen Anderson as the backups. All three guys are known more for their contributions on special teams.
Rapp spent each of the last three seasons with the Bills, but only played six games in 2025 due to a knee injury before being cut in the spring. He was previously a Super Bowl champion with the Rams.
Stay tuned, but it sounds like Taylor Rapp will be back in the mix — at least on the practice squad — shortly.
