Courtland Sutton passed Ed McCaffrey for a big Broncos milestone

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton is now in the top-5 for receiving yards in franchise history.

Sutton passed Ed McCaffrey on Sunday in Denver’s 34-26 win over the Green Bay Packers. He had seven catches for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Sutton also had a huge conversion on fourth-down in the fourth quarter that helped Denver score their fifth touchdown of the day and put the Packers away.

McCaffrey is one of the fan-favorites in Broncos Country, so it’s a cool milestone for Courtland Sutton to pass No. 87.

As you can see in the graphic above, Sutton now has 6,226 yards in his career with the Broncos, a journey that began all the way back in 2018. Denver selected Sutton in the second-round of the NFL Draft that year.

And still to go on the list for Sutton are some legends.

He’s now behind Rod Smith (11,389 yards), Demaryius Thomas (9,055 yards), Shannon Sharpe (8,439 yards) and Lionel Taylor (6,872 yards).

Sutton signed a big contract extension with the Broncos last offseason, so there’s a real chance he plays his entire career in orange and blue. Plus, with the chemistry he and QB Bo Nix have, the sky feels like the limit for how high he can climb.

It’s hard to see Courtland Sutton catching Smith, but you never know. Assuming good health, he’ll definitely top Taylor and could get into the conversation with Sharpe and the late, great Thomas.

This is a nice milestone in what’s been a fantastic season thus far for the 12-2 Broncos, winners of 11 in a row and atop the AFC.
