Colorado golfer Wyndham Clark has solid Denver Broncos knowledge

Former U.S. Open champion and elite PGA Tour golfer Wyndham Clark is a big Denver Broncos fan.

It makes sense, considering Clark grew up in the Denver suburbs and attended Valor Christian High School. After all, he was classmates with Christian McCaffrey, who’s obviously enjoyed a monster NFL career.

And this clip from Kay Adams is making the rounds on social media, after she sat down with Clark ahead of The Players Championship this weekend at TPC Sawgrass.

First of all, he’s very aware of what’s happened in the last 48 hours. Wyndham Clark knows Denver added both linebacker Dre Greenlaw and safety Talanoa Hufanga from the San Francisco 49ers.

Considering he was in contention for a chunk of last weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and is now shifting his focus to The Players, that’s impressive enough.

But you can also tell he appreciates the history of the franchise. Clark’s years might be slightly off, but they did get blown out in Super Bowl XLVIII following the 2013 season, a heartbreaking 43-8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The No. 1 defense smoked the No. 1 offense, and former Broncos GM John Elway immediately changed the way he built his team.

Two years later it was the Denver defense and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller taking it to Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in a 24-10 victory. It was the third Lombardi Trophy in Broncos history.

Clark is correct that Brock Osweiler had to play a handful of games that season, but head coach Gary Kubiak eventually switched back to Peyton Manning in Week 17 and throughout the playoff run. Still, even though Manning is beloved in Colorado, it’s pretty much universally accepted the Broncos defense took home that championship.

And finally, Clark is already forecasting his ideal pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, wanting former Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. Many are still holding out hope for free agent Evan Engram, but now that he’s visiting the Chargers, he might’ve gotten away.

It’s pretty strong analysis from Clark overall, and always fun to see a professional athlete follow another sport so closely.

Once his golf days are done, maybe Wyndham Clark has a future breaking down the NFL.
