Broncos and Chiefs game did huge viewership numbers for CBS

The Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs had the attention of the country.

When the AFC West heavyweights met, a thrilling 22-19 Broncos victory, people were tuned in.

CBS Sports released one of those fancy graphics on Tuesday to highlight the viewership, and perhaps the most interesting part is the game was the most watched program in the country last week.

Led by the Broncos’ win over the Chiefs, “NFL ON CBS” continues its record-breaking season with the most-watched program of the week with nearly 29 million viewers.

So, that’s not just games, that’s everything. It shows football is king, topping the most popular television shows as well as news programs.

With Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson on the call — and nearly 29 million people watching at home — the Broncos used a walk-off Wil Lutz field goal to get to 9-2 on the season. Denver has won eight games in a row.

Meanwhile, the same audience might be watching the beginning of the end of the Kansas City Chiefs. They’re now 5-5, and not only in trouble in the division, but perhaps to even make the playoffs at all.

QB Bo Nix, head coach Sean Payton and the elite Broncos defense found a way to impress America. But as Payton likes to say, Denver will play in bigger games than this one. You can bet the playoffs, and definitely the Super Bowl, will draw even crazier ratings.

Hopefully, it’s the Broncos taking center stage.
