CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant was officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, but it appears as if he’s all set to go for his return after a four-week absence due to an ankle injury.
The team activated Bryant from injured reserve on Saturday, three days after the second-year veteran returned to the practice field following the four-game absence that followed his injury suffered in the third quarter of the Oct. 4 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers.
Bryant’s move didn’t come in a vacuum; the team also placed defensive lineman Enyi Uwazurike on injured reserve due to the shoulder injury he incurred last week.
Injuries have been part and parcel of Bryant’s career over the last 10-and-a-half months. He missed last December’s game against the Green Bay Packers due to a hamstring injury, then after returning, suffered a concussion against the Jacksonville Jaguars that sidelined him for the Christmas Day game at Kansas City.
Bryant returned for Week 18 and then played in the postseason opener against Buffalo, but left after playing three snaps — all of which ended in him recording a catch — due to another concussion. He was cleared through the post-concussion protocol to return for the AFC Championship Game seven days later, but then suffered another hamstring injury and saw his day end after just nine snaps.
He spent much of the early part of the offseason around the Broncos facility focusing on recovery from the hamstring problems.
Bryant leads all Broncos wide receivers with a 14.8-yards-per-catch average so far this season.
